Gujarat Public Holidays 2017.
Holidays are determined by the Personnel Division of the General Administration Department of the Government of Gujarat. There are three holiday lists approved in Gujarat. Government offices are closed on General Holidays. These holidays include Sardar Vallabhbbhai Patel’s birthday, Shree Ram Navmi and Guru Nanak’s birthday. Government employees may choose two optional holidays as paid holidays. Optional holidays include Yom Kippur, Boxing Day and Onam. On Bank Holidays, all banks are closed and employees are provided the day off with pay. These include Republic Day, Raksha Bandhan and Bhai Bij.
Christmas is also declared a public holiday in Gujarat as is Good Friday. If any Muslim holiday does not fall on the day authorised by the government, public employees may be granted an optional holiday in place of the authorised holiday.
