Gujarat government has launched Road Accident Victim Compensation Scheme 2018. Under this scheme, the state govt. will provide free treatment upto Rs. 50,000 to all the road accident victims in the first 48 hours. This scheme will be applicable for all people whether resident of Gujarat or an outsider meeting road accidents in the state. Victims will be able to get admitted for treatment in any of the government or private hospital in the state

Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said that an average of 29,309 road accidents in Gujarat kill 6,483 people every year. Vahan Akasmat Sahay Yojana Form pdf & GR so The state government will pay up to Rs 50,000 directly to the hospital for 48 hours of treatment by the health department at any nearby government or private hospital as the patient’s life could be saved if he was treated quickly in such road accidents.
Key Provisions :
- Under the scheme, the state government will bear medical expenses of up to 50,000 rupees for each victim of a road accident in the state for the first 48 hours.
- The government would reimburse the amount to the hospital concerned upon submission of bills.
The free treatment facility will include dressing of wounds, X-ray, blood transfusion, treatment in ICU and - MRI and all other treatment available in a hospital.
- In an instance where a hospital refers the patient to another hospital within 48 hours, both the hospitals will be eligible for the reimbursement of their combined bill of Rs 50,000.
- The move is aimed at providing timely and better treatment and thus, minimising the loss of life due to road accidents.
Who will benefit from the scheme?
- Besides covering the people of Gujarat, the scheme would cover people belonging to other states and also citizens from other countries.
- According to a Government Resolution issued by the state’s Health and Family Welfare department on May 17, even people hailing from other states or citizens of other countries will get free treatment regardless of their
- income if they meet with a road accident and get admitted to a government or a private hospital in Gujarat.

What treatments are included in the plan?
Injury dressing, stabilization, fracture stabilization, trauma treatment, X-ray, trauma operations, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, blood transfusion, head injury treatment and operation, intimate treatment unit (ICU), abdominal and gum injuries Includes costs for type treatment.
The cost of the first 48 hours of treatment does not have to be paid
These services will be provided to the accident victim in any private hospital, district-taluka hospitals, medical college-hospitals or any other public or private hospitals. Accident patients will not have to pay for first aid. Private hospitals will not charge the patient for the first 48 hours of treatment. The bill for the treatment done by the private hospitals has to be submitted to the Chief District Medical Officer or the Medical Superintendent of the concerned district, and the private hospital will be entitled to the amount up to Rs 50,000.
